This year it will be held at Platea, a gourmet centre on Plaza Colon. It will be a casual affair, everyone is welcome including kids, and there is no entry fee.

We hope to see you there!

Kangaroo Meet - KEI concert

Australian-Spanish-Scottish rock band KEI have organised Australia Meet, an end-of summer party to be held this Friday at the Irish Rover.

The guys told us "everyone knows what kangaroo meat is, but the real kangaroo meet is when they get together at the end of a long hot summer to drink at a water hole. So that is exactly what we have decided to do."

That sounds like a good reason!

WHERE: The Irish Rover, Avenida de Brasil 7, Madrid

WHEN: Friday 25 September at 10 p.m.

Entry is free.

Wallabies v Fiji

Public House will show the 2015 Rugby World Cup game between Australia and Fiji in what will be the Wallabies debut at the tournament. Will Fiji be able to come back from the crushing defeat at the hands of England or will the Aussies get off to a good start?

When: Wednesday 23 September at 5:45 p.m.

UPDATE: The bar has an offer for thirsty punters. A bucket of botellines for 5 euros.

In what has been one of the most controversial decisions made by organisers, Eurovision has extended an invitation to Australia to take part in final of the European song competition on Saturday.

Gudonya will be getting together to enjoy this momentous occasion to watch Guy Sebastian to make history.

Wine Tasting and Tapas Evening a huge success, loads of bottles drunk

Many thanks to all those who attended the Wine Tasting and Tapas Evening: An Introduction to Wine Tasting and Spanish Wine. If the number of empty bottles is a indication of how it went, it was a huge success. For those interested, the wines we tasted were:

2014 Perro Verde Verdejo

2012 Bodegas Castaño Hécula

2014 Ostatu Tinto

2011 La Multa Garnacha

Also many thanks to Chema and his team at El Colmado for the great service and for having such a wonderful tavern.

Now it's time to start planning our next event!

Wine Tasting and Tapas Evening

As requested by numerous members, we have organised a wine tasting and tapas evening on Friday 27 February. Being the first ever wine event we have organised for Gudonya and considering the range of people who have already expressed interest in attending, the evening will begin with a brief introduction to wine tasting, which will be followed by four wines that represent Spain well. Theory and practice. The evening will finish with a range of lovely tapas for dinner, during which we can discuss food and wine matching.

For more information, visit our events page.

Australia Day: Thanks!

Thanks to all who came down to celebrate Australia Day at Federal Café. It was a a solid turnout and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves. There were many new faces but it was also a chance to catch up with some old friends.

We have posted some photos of the party on the Australia Day 2015 page.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the next event. Stay tuned!
